Happy Holidays, End of Year Update & Sign Up for Newsletter

Dear Clients, Investors, Partners and Supporters,

2018 has been a year of a lot of work and many achievements for Aerodyne Microsystems Inc dba AirSpeQ. While you probably don’t want me to write about everything we did; here are a couple of the highlights:

We started the year off with a bang having just received an NSF Phase I grant award. We are proud to say that our NSF Program Director identified us as one of the companies in his cohort of investments that could potentially change the world. Proud as we are of that, we know this only means we have a lot of work to do.

In April we were selected as one of five companies from thirty applicants by the Bay Area Council for a sponsored trip to Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nanjing. After which we went to Beijing to meet and continue discussions with some other companies. All in all, we met a lot of very interesting companies that will surely become partners, clients and or customers in the not too distant future.

Then later in the year, we were excited to be notified that we were selected as one of three finalists from among twenty applicants for the NASA Earth Space Air Prize. Watch the video NASA produced of the competition:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3szehurKzZI

In May, we also attended the Smart Cities Conference in Santa Clara where we were excited to meet and talk to representatives from cities nationwide working towards improving their infrastructure and services.

In October we were invited to return to China to attend the Silicon Valley AgTech2018 Conference sponsored by among other organizations and government agencies the Zhejiang Province Agriculture Department.  In Hangzhou, we presented to over 1000 attendees consisting of investors, government officials and students. Then we were invited to tour farms in Puidang and other local attractions.

October 29-Nov. 1 st  was the first ever Air Pollution Conference organized by the World Health Organization in Geneva. A special panel which we attended was devoted to the issue of low or lower cost sensors and their future opportunities and current challenges. However the highlight of the conference ended up being the Plenary Session on the 31 st  of October that was led by Molly Rauch from Moms Clean Air Force on Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships. As seen in the picture, Dr. Arvind Kumar presented shocking photographic evidence of the what lungs exposed to the ongoing air pollution in New Delhi look like. As he put it, thirty years ago when he started his practice, lungs like the ones he showed us belonged to fifty year old men who had been smoking for over thirty years. Now the same type of damaged lung can be found in youths barely fifteen years old that have never smoked. (See the recording of the presentation at  https://www.who.int/airpollution/events/conference/en/  Plenary Session V )

o finish out the year, we were also notified that we were the proud recipients of the Cutting Edge Award at the Shanghai/Yangpu Global StartUp Competition. We were originally introduced to them by our first trip to China sponsors, the Bay Area Council. We applied in June, pitched at the Palo Alto Semi-Finals in July and then at the Shanghai Finals in September and are proud to have been awarded the Cutting Edge Award at the ceremony in December.

Coming next year is a new research grant opportunity through NIH, that will allow us to continue to miniaturize our technology as well as opportunities to partner with smart cities and businesses to improve air quality.

In 2019, we look forward to working with everyone towards improving air quality and reducing air pollution. If you have any questions or ideas, do not hesitate to contact us.

Our team wishes you all, Happy Holidays and the best possible prospects for the 2019 New Year!

Sincerely,
